The Brand Architecture ~ Soweto Gold
The "Soweto Gold" name is derived from the actual location of the Brewery in iconic Orlando West, Soweto, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa - combined with the heritage of Soweto (SOuth WEst TOwnship = Soweto) as a segregated township established in 1905 outside Johannesburg to house the migrant black miners required for the exploration of GOLD in the area.
The logo 'Soweto Gold" features iconic imagery and a strong color scheme.
The focal point of the logo is the emotively provoking image of the closed 'Amandla!' fist. This iconic symbol honors the past and current struggle of the people in Soweto.
The black hand also symbolizes the black ownership and the hand made nature of the product - hand crafted beer.
Lastly the 'Amandla! fist calls for unity, support and solidarity towards an excellent superior quality beer! AMANDLA SOWETO GOLD!
The color scheme of the logo shows a distinctively South African patriotic resonance.
Traditional beer imagery, such as hops and malt are juxtaposed by two dark lions, proudly framing the SG sigil of the Soweto Gold. A red star as a sign of excellence flanked by two gold bullion.
The Brand Architecture is created by Sowetan graphic designer and brand architect Sello Ditjoe from Tinsumi. www.tintsumi.co.za
